What is the difference between the birth number and destiny number?

Your birth number denotes your character & appearance. Destiny number denotes the “path of your life”. As in, the events of your life, relationships, end of life etc.

We can understand the relationship between these 2 numbers with an example: Your character and your desires will be based on your birth number and you might select a certain profession according to that. But, how the life experience goes and how far you will advance in that profession etc will be determined by your destiny number.

BUT, the most important thing is, we CAN influence them using a name that is suitable to our numbers.

Also note that if your destiny number is more powerful than your birth number, it will denote your character more than the birth number.

How to calculate the Birth Number and Destiny Number?

In numerology, we take a particular number and add its component digits to arrive at a single digit number. This applies to birth number and destiny number. For example, if it’s 19, this is how it goes:

1 + 9 = 10 (and then we add these 2 digits too)

1 + 0 = 1

So, the single digit number that represents 19 is 1.

(We usually won’t add a name number to its last digit, though we do it to just determine what number it is)

Birth number

Birth number is the number that represents only the date component of your birth date. For example, if you are born on 22nd of May 2001, we take only the date (22nd), and add its components together as described above.

So, 2 + 2 = 4. The single digit 4 is your Birth Number

Destiny number (also called Life Path number)

If you add ALL the numbers of your date of birth, you get your destiny number. According to our example above 22nd May 2001, all our numbers would be 22 (date) 5 (Month) and 2001 (year).

Now let’s add all those numbers like this:

2 + 2 + 5 + 2 + 0 + 0 + 1 = 12

1 + 2 = 3

The single digit number 3 is your destiny number or life-path number.

So the numbers of the person in our example are: 4 & 3
